Hit-Not® Proximity Solutions

What do you need? Listed below are some generic applications to help with understanding what a Hit-Not® site solution might comprise.

Note: The following examples are not site specific. Any control method implemented must be fit for purpose and compliant with the requirements of your site hazard identification and risk assessment.

1) Warehouse area with up to five active forklifts. Manual picking or stock checking results in up to two or three pedestrians accessing warehouse racking for short periods each hour. Sytem solutions might include:

  • 5 x Hit-Not® proximity field generator module kits (one to each forklift). The kits are supplied complete with 1 x Proximity Field Generator, 1 x Driver Warning Module, 1 x CAB Silencer.
  • 3 x Hit-Not® personal alarm devices (PAD's) for pedestrians.
  • Purchase a suitable number of Hit-Not® PAD battery chargers for the number of PAD's implemented.
  • Consider a further 5 x Hit-Not® PAD, one for each driver.
  • Other options / considerations:
    • Hit-Not® Anti-collision modules for vehicle to vehicle warning.
    • Use of high visibility 'Warehouse Safety Vests' that include a fitted pocket for the Hit-Not® PAD (soon available from ASC) in conjunction with a procedure of 'No Entry' to warehouse without wearing of a Warehouse Safety Vest.
    • Interlock warehouse access point with a mechanism that prevents access unless a Hit-Not® PAD is worn.
    • Fit Hit-Not® Area Monitors to warehouse loading / rapid doors to warn of forklifts approaching / exiting / entering the warehouse.

2) Production area with large number of employees. Forklifts segregated as far as is practicable. Hazards identified as two blind spots at forklift - pedestrian cross-over's in approach to delivery of materials / removal of finished goods from production.

  • Hit-Not® Proximity Field Generator module kit for each forklift.
  • Hit-Not® Area Monitors with appropriate audible visual warning indicators for each blind spot intersection to reliably warn of the approaching forklift.
    • Hit-Not® Area Monitors mean that whenever an active forklift is present in the detection zone, the warning is active. Sensor based solutions often only detect once the forklift is moving or may not detect once the forklift has passed under the sensor. Hit-Not® solves these issues.
  • Other options / considerations:
    • Pedestrian gates with electro-mechanical locks at the intersections, having gate access inhibited upon approach of a forklift by the Hit-Not® Area Monitor. Include gate release on shared traffic side of gate to enable exit of pedestrians on crossover when warning activated.
    • If a pedestrian access gate is open actuate a differing warning indicator at the intersection to alert the approaching forklift driver.

3) Road Construction with mobile plant.

  • Fit Hit-Not® XL Proximity Field Generator modules to mobile plant.
  • Purchase Hit-Not® personal alarm devices (PAD's) for all workers.
  • Purchase a suitable number of Hit-Not® PAD battery chargers for the number of PAD's implemented.

4) Truck delivery to or dispatch from warehouse. Involves forklift traffic in vicinity of truck drivers.

  • Fit a Hit-Not® proximity field generator kit to each forklift.
  • Purchase sufficient Hit-Not® personal alarm devices (PAD's) for the maximum number of trucks to be present at any one time.
  • Purchase a suitable number of Hit-Not® PAD battery chargers for the number of PAD's implemented.
  • Consider purchase of a further Hit-Not® PAD for each forklift driver.
  • Other options / considerations:
    • Upon parking to load / unload, drivers could be required to exchange their keys for a Hit-Not® PAD. When ready to depart the Hit-Not® PAD is returned in exchange for their keys. An alternative method is for the Hit-Not® PAD to be provided by security at entry to site and retrieved before exit.
    • To prevent loss of Hit-Not® PAD's a Proximity Field Generator can be fitted at security to detect if any person attempts to leave site without returning their Hit-Not® PAD.
